Featured Speaker - Assemblyman Cameron
Smyth |
|
What's Happening in California?
Elected in 2006, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth
is honored to represent the 38th Assembly
District, which includes the cities of Los
Angeles, Santa Clarita, Simi Valley and
Glendale.
His strong leadership on environmental,
economic and energy issues earned him an
appointment as co-chair of the Republican E3
task force. This important task force seeks
to support policies that balance
environmental stewardship with the
increasing demands for energy while
promoting a robust business climate.
Building on his bi-partisan reputation,
Assemblyman Smyth has had many legislative
successes in his first term. He effectively
responded to community concern when
self-proclaimed pedophile Jack McClellan
moved to the region by winning passage of
his Surrogate Stalker Act of 2008, which
gives law enforcement the proper tools to
deal with these dangerous individuals. He
also moved California a huge step forward by
joint authoring SB 1608, a bi-partisan
effort that will achieve broader access for
individuals with disabilities and instill
greater confidence in business owners that
they will not face the threat of expensive
access-related lawsuits every day they open
their doors.
Assemblyman Smyth, along with his wife Lena,
has been very active in the community for
several years. They have served on the board
and volunteered with several non-profit
organizations including: the American Red
Cross' local blood drive program, the
American Heart Association, the American
Diabetes Association, the Special Olympics,
the Betty Ferguson Foundation, the Santa
Clarita Valley Jaycees, and the Santa
Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce. |

SFVRC Booth at "Taste of Encino" and
Phone Banks / Precinct Walks

Sunday, October 12th
- Taste of Encino
This Sunday, October 12th the San Fernando
Valley Republican Club will have a booth for
the McCain-Palin campaign and for local
candidates at the "Taste of Encino"
Festival. The Festival will be on Ventura
Blvd. between Balboa and Amestoy from
10:00am to 5:00pm. Thanks to those who
volunteered to help out in the booth.
Phone Banks / Precinct Walks
We all know how critical it is that the
McCain-Palin ticket gets elected. That
isn't going to happen with your help. The
Obama campaign can afford to pay staffers to
do the phone banks and precinct walks. He
has raised over $200 Million so far. John
McCain is relying on public funds and has
not raised nearly as much. The McCain
campaign has to rely on its dedicated
volunteers to make the calls and to walk the
precincts.
We need you to volunteer. Please contact a
McCain-Palin Victory 2008 Headquarters near
you and volunteer to help.
You can find the nearest headquarters to you
