Kevin James |

Former
Mayoral Candidate
Kevin James will speak at our May
meeting to give us him insight into his
campaign, why he didn't make the top
two, what he should have done
differently, and why he chose to endorse
Eric Garcetti for Mayor.
This is your chance to ask Kevin
questions about his campaign and his
endorsement of Garcetti.

Dan Stroncak |
|
Candidate
for City Council
There is a special election on May 21st for
the vacant seat in the City Council of the
City of Los Angeles, District #6.
There is a Republican candidate running,
Dan Stroncak. Dan has been endorsed by
the Republican Party of Los Angeles
County.
Dan Stroncak is a write-in
candidate. He will not be on the
ballot, but for those of you who
live in the 6th City Council
District, you can write his name in.
This request was sent to me by one
of Dan's supporters:
"My request is that everyone (if
they want to) donate one page of
forever stamps (20 stamps -- just
under $10 ) for Dan Stroncak
campaign. This would be away to pay
for postage and help Dan's campaign
with the postage bill. Roger and I
have been sending out cards to gated
community people. David said that
nothing would have to be reported
since the individual donation is
under a $100.
The postcards now are for the people
who vote by mail. The next set of
cards would be for people voting on
election day.
Also, more people are needed to
walk precincts, phoning and etc.
The Republicans I contacted were
supportive for Dan. The old Tony
Cardenas district, I feel, has not
been contacted, as well as,
Padilla's district. If these areas
can be drawn into the party more and
more, it might help us now and in
the future."

First
Attack
Thursday, May 9, you're invited to a
one-night-only screening of the new
documentary film, "First
Attack: The History of the 1st
Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment."
The filmmakers, who are all
conservatives, will be there for a Q&A
after the film, as will the movie's host
and narrator, Peabody Award-Winning
International Film and Television Star
Nick Searcy. Additionally, members of
the 227th will be on-hand to view the
film along with us.
The screening will be at the AMC 16
Theater in Burbank. The film begins at
8pm, and doors open at 7pm. It's a first
come, first seated event, so please
arrive early.
One of the founders of the San Fernando
Valley Republican Club, Eric Porvaznik,
played a major role in the production of
the film. Go here to see a short
trailer: http://vimeo.com/40381860
Suggested donation of $10 admission,
every cent of which goes to the Air
Warrior Courage Foundation, can be
handled at the AWCF website ( http://airwarriorcourage.org/donations.html),
and there will be representatives at the
screening as well. Anyone who would like
to donate more than $10 is encouraged to
help out such a worthy cause.
After the screening, please join the
party at the Barney's Beanery Burbank
location, only a few steps from the AMC
16.
This event is a great and political
chance to come out to honor the amazing
members of the 227th by supporting an
amazing documentary, meet some true
American heroes, and have a great time
afterward at Barney's. Look forward to
seeing as many of you as possible!

AFA Heroes of Conscience Dinner |

Tuesday, May 21, 2013
The American
Freedom Alliance is
having its Seventh AnnualHeroes
of Conscience Award Dinner on
Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Olympic
Collection from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. One
of the people being honored at the
dinner is B. Wayne Hughes who spoke to
SFVRC last year. Allen West will be
honored, as will Leila Beckwith and
Tammy Benjamin who formed Am'cha, an
organization that fights anti-semitism
on college campuses. Dennis Prager will
speak, and political cartoonist Michael
Ramirez will MC. Some of you attended
the dinner last year and probably would
like to again this year.
I know the price is a little steep for
some of you, so if you want to attend,
send me an email at gaminoff@gmail.com.
I believe there will be some discounted
tickets as we get closer to the event.
I will let you know how much the
discounted tickets are and you can then

This is always a great evening.

Dine and Donate at Fatburger |
|
Panorama
Fatburger is offering an opportunity to help
SFVRC
As you know the Panorama City Fatburger
is owned by two Republicans, Julie
Nguyen and John Quintanilla. They are
offering an opportunity for SFVRC
members to eat at Fatburger. It is only
two blocks from where we meet at Galpin
Ford, so it is easy to go there before
or after our meeting, but the offer
applies anytime.
Go eat at Panorama City Fatburger, 8261
Sepulveda Blvd (at the corner of Roscoe)
Panorama City, 91402. The phone number
there is (818)894-7888. Keep your
receipt and bring it to me or to Karen
Klaparda, our secretary. We can then
turn the receipts in to Fatburger and
they will donate 15% of the receipts to
SFVRC. It is a great way to help the
club by having Fatburger donate a
percentage of your bill, but it also
helps a local business run by
Republicans.

We are encouraging all of our members

fellow members and Republicans. If you

them provided by your fellow
Republicans?
