Assembly District,
will give us a
legislative update
and discussion of
the Propositions on
the November ballot.
Cameron will also
let us know what
legislation was
passed this year and
how it is likely to
impact our lives,
and what legislation
thankfully didn't
get passed. He will

the current
situation with the
budget, and what is
going on in
Sacramento.
Upon his re-election in 2008, Assemblyman

is the
second-highest
ranking Republican

Assembly.
In 2010,
Assemblyman Smyth
was named Chairman
of the Assembly
Local Government
Committee, the first
time in recent
history that a
member of the
minority party has
served as a chair of
a major policy
committee. The Local

jurisdictions
include special
taxes, city and
county organization
and powers,
subdivisions, and
administration of
special districts.

The Influence of
Labor Unions on
California Politics
Adam
Abrahms is a nationally
recognized labor lawyer
and longtime grassroots
conservative activist.
Mr. Abrahms is Special
Labor Counsel at the
international law firm
of Proskauer Rose LLP
where he represents
employers in their
disputes with unions.
Mr. Abrahms also
currently serves as the
Vice-Chair of the
California Republican
Lawyers Association and
Chairman for the Young
Republican Federation of
California.
Mr. Abrahms' formal
involvement in politics
began while in college
at California Lutheran
University. There he
founded a College
Republican club which
grew to a full 1/3 of
the
student body and was
elected the Vice-Chair
of the California
College Republican State
Board of Directors.
Returning to California
after graduation from
Georgetown Law, Mr.
Abrahms continued his
activism, serving on the
Boards of both the
California Republican
Lawyers
Association and the
Young Republicans
Federation of
California.
As Vice-Chair of the
California Republican
Lawyers Association and
Chair the Los Angeles
Chapter, Mr. Abrahms has
been able to aid many of
our LA nominees in their
ballot protection
efforts and send
hundreds of local
lawyers to battleground
states across the
country when needed.
For the last several
years, as a leader, and
now
Chairman, of YRFC, Mr.
Abrahms has been
providing leadership to
our grassroots troops
and lending shoe leather
to our most embattled
candidates throughout
the state.
Professionally, as a
management-side labor
lawyer, Mr. Abrahms,
fights the same unions
that have a strangle
hold on Sacramento.
Aggressively
representing his clients
and standing up to the
union bosses at the CTA,
CNA, SEIU, Teamsters and
others, he has developed
strategies to keep his
clients union-free and
successfully defeat
unions on all fronts.
Mr. Abrahms is also a
frequent author and
speaker on a variety of
issues impacting jobs
and the economy and has
advised members of
Congress, the State
Legislature
and other elected
officials on such
issues.

website for more
information about him.

SFVRC Business Roster |
|
Do Business with
fellow Republicans
In these tough economic
times we have decided to
help each other out
economically.
We are preparing a
business roster of
Republicans for SFVRC
members. This will be
merged with a
county-wide business
directory that is being
prepared by LA County
Republican Clubs.
We are encouraging all
of our members to
patronize the businesses
of our fellow members
and Republicans. If you
need goods and services,
why not have them
provided by your fellow
Republicans?
For those of you who
would like to have your
business listed in our
business directory,
please send an email to:
BUSINESS@SFVRC.ORG
. Provide your name,
the name and street
address of your
business, your business
phone number, your
business web site
address, and your email
address. Also provide a
description of the
services you provide or
the type of goods you
sell.
We would like to publish
this directory by May,
so please send in your
information. Send an
email to
business@sfvrc.org
with the above
information.
