September General Membership Meeting
September 5, 2006

We have planned an outstanding meeting, with an exceptional featured speaker.

We will also have a brief history lesson relating to VJ- Day, which occurred on August 15, 1945, and the dropping of the bomb on Japan on August 6 and 9, 1945, which brought about the end of World War II, presented by our own Jim Pavik and Christopher Pavik, along with some audio from President Truman.

The meeting will be at 7:00pm at Galpin Ford, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, 15555 Roscoe Blvd, North Hills.

Iranian National
Featured Speaker - Dr. Bahman Naderi, President of the Iranian National Movement for Freedom

Dr. Bahman Naderi is the President of the Iranian National Movement for Freedom, an organization which is devoted to change of regime in Iran. It is composed of Iranians whose goal is to overthrow the current regime in Iran, and to replace it with a democratic government, or a constitutional monarchy, which is not a theocracy. They want a secular government - complete separation of religion and state - one that will incorporate respect and tolerance for all beliefs.

Dr. Naderi will inform us about current conditions in Iran, the prospects for regime change, what the United States can do to help bring about a new regime in Iran, and give us information on what is happening in the Middle East today.

Dr. Naderi is from Isfahan, Iran and currently lives in Encino. He has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University.

Poochigian
Sen. Chuck Poochigian for Attorney General

State Sen. Chuck Poochigian is running for Attorney General of California against Jerry "Moonbat" Brown. Chuck is not very well known in Southern California, but has been working on behalf of conservatives in the State legislature for years. I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him, and I am convinced that Chuck Poochigian will make a great Attorney General of California.

Chuck is going to do his best to make our meeting, but in the event he isn't able to, our own Armineh Chelebian, his Southern California representative, will talk to us about Chuck and answer questions.

One question to keep in mind is, how good would an Attorney General be who is opposed to the death penalty? Jerry Brown will not be the Attorney General we want for California. Visit Chuck's web site by clicking on the link below to read about the reasons we should all support Chuck Poochigian for Attorney General.

San Fernando Valley Victory '06 Headquarters

The San Fernando Valley Victory '06 heaquarters is now open at 22025 Ventura Boulevard, Suite 203- 205. The headquarters is just west of Topanga Canyon.

We have a phone bank of 40 phones set up in the headquarters. We need volunteers for the phone bank. It is easy to make phone calls. There is a script to follow, and Jim Miervaldis is there to give coaching to anyone who wants it.

Making phone calls is very important to this campaign. We need to clean up the phone list by eliminating bad phone numbers and we need to bring volunteers into the campaign. The designated evening for the SFVRC to be responsible for seeing that the phone bank is manned (or womanned) is Wednesday. However, anyone can go to the headquarters on any night or day. Please do, even if you only have an hour, go to the headquarters and make some calls.

Jim Miervaldis is going to give us a demonstration of how to make calls, and time permitting, we may have a few members make some calls.

Also, I should let you know that while we were the leading headquarters the first week, we were beat out by the Torrance headquarters this past week. In fact, a challenge has been thrown down to us by the Beach Cities Republican Club, that they will make more calls than us and bring in more volunteers than us at the Torrance headquarters.

It is a challenge that we, in the San Fernando Valley, are happy to take on. There is no way that Torrance is going to do better than us.

In addition to SFVRC, the following clubs have been doing great in sending in volunteers for phoning: California Republican League, Woodland Hills Women's Federated, Canoga Park Women's Federated, Encino Oaks Women's Federated, Tarzana Womens Federated. This is truly a united effort of all Republicans in the San Fernando Valley.

This will be another great meeting of the San Fernando Valley Republican Club. I look forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting on Tuesday, September 5th.
